Human Resources Business Partner
What we're looking for!
We are looking for a hands-on Human Resources Business Partner to support workforce stability and people practices at our mine site. This role has a strong focus on recruitment, along with employee relations, practical HR systems, and ensuring site processes align with company policies and union agreements.
HR is closely connected to the leadership team and the workforce on site and is relied on as a practical partner in day-to-day decisions, not a background function. This is not a corporate desk role. You will be embedded in site operations, working closely with supervisors and managers to build simple, workable HR processes that support production, reduce friction, and help leaders manage their teams effectively.
This role is well suited for someone who wants to continue building their HR skill set in a real operational environment. HR is closely involved with the leadership team and the workforce and is relied on as a practical partner in day-to-day decisions, not a background function. You will have meaningful exposure across recruitment, employee relations, and HR systems while being trusted to manage your work and make sound decisions. Leadership operates with a trust first approach, which means you will be given independence, autonomy, and space to own your responsibilities rather than being micromanaged. If you value accountability, practical work, and the ability to shape how things are done on site, this role offers both growth and agency.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Workforce Support
- Lead recruitment activities for site roles, including job postings, resume screening, interview coordination, and reference checks
- Partner with hiring managers to understand operational needs and plan staffing proactively
- Improve recruitment workflows so hiring is timely, consistent, and practical for a mine site environment
- Maintain clear tracking of vacancies, pipelines, and hiring activity
- Support onboarding coordination to ensure new hires are set up properly
Employee Relations
- Act as the first point of contact for employee HR questions and concerns
- Support supervisors with everyday people issues, minor discipline, and performance improvement plans
- Assist with the grievance process and work with union representatives as required
- Help reinforce consistent, fair application of agreements and policies across departments
HR Systems, Programs & Site Processes
- Support and administer core HR programs under the direction of the Senior HR Manager, including: Performance management, training and development frameworks, engagement initiatives, recognition and service awards
- Help translate HR programs into practical site level processes supervisors can actually use
- Maintain documentation, templates, and tools that support consistent application
- Identify gaps in site practices and recommend improvements to strengthen structure and accountability
Competencies:
-
Operational Partnership – Works closely with leaders and understands site realities.
-
Ownership – Follows through and closes loops.
-
Problem Solving – Fixes issues with practical solutions.
-
Judgment & Discretion – Handles sensitive matters professionally.
-
Organization – Keeps processes and records on track.
Education and Experience:
Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or actively working toward completion.
Currently pursuing, or intending to pursue, the CPHR designation.
3–5 years of experience in an HR, recruitment, or people operations role, ideally in an industrial, mining, manufacturing, or unionized environment.
Hands-on experience supporting recruitment processes, including job postings, screening, interview coordination, and candidate communication.
Exposure to employee relations matters such as performance conversations, attendance management, or discipline, with the ability to apply policies consistently and fairly.
Experience maintaining HR records and using HRIS or similar systems to track employee data, training, or compliance.
Experience working closely with front-line leaders and employees in an operational setting rather than a corporate-only environment is a strong asset.
